What a year 2016 has been! We review our high points and top 10 posts on the blog!
We can’t believe we are already at the end of 2016 and about to usher in another year. I truly think the years go faster as we (and our kids) get older! It’s been a whirlwind with plenty of challenges and successes to celebrate.
One big change was redesigning our website and changing the way we do our menu planning, making it easier for you to pick out your favorites rather than being roped into a subscription. We also now offer gluten free menu plans in addition to our classic ones. And 2016 also saw us launch our first eBook, Date Night Dinners: A Mom’s Guide to Babysitter Friendly Recipes.
Our blog continues to grow and we are thankful for all of our readers. We love hearing feedback on our recipes and posts. Please keep it coming and let us know what you would like more of as well in 2017. So with that, here are the top 10 posts of 2016:
This recipe continues to be the most searched and visited page on our website. Of course we think it is pretty terrific too, not to mention super easy to make. Maybe in 2017 we’ll finally be able to capture a better image that truly shows off just how wonderful this dish is!
Overnight oats are all the rage and this continues to be my go to recipe every time. It’s easy to switch up the flavor with different toppings too.
Ever wonder what to do with a bounty of fresh figs? Make preserves with them, of course! Fig preserves are such a treat and making them in the slow cooker couldn’t be easier.
Have you jumped on the savory oatmeal bandwagon yet? This was our first experience with it and we fell in love! This is such a versatile recipe though the ingredients above are our staples.
Confused about the difference between grass fed and organic milk? We break the science down for you. We also share the results of our blind taste test and let you in on what we serve our own families. The answers may surprise you!
We created some super yummy, family-friendly recipes for those first weeks back to school to ease the transition. These recipes would also be great this time of year as kids get back into the school routine after the holidays.
This is the perfect quick bread recipe for the holidays when pomegranates and apples are in season. The crunchiness of the pomegranates pairs nicely with the tender apples in this bread. The recipe makes 2 loaves – perfect for sharing or freezing one for later.
Ever have a Krystal (or White Castle) burger? Then these are for you! These are the best burgers and sure to wow family and friends. I just made 72 of these bad boys for my son’s birthday party – everyone went wild over them. So if you need to feed a crowd too, this is an easy way to do it.
I’ll confess, my family loves ramen noodles! And thanks to Lesley, we can now enjoy it whenever with this wonderful spin on ramen that is tastier and thankfully much healthier than the original cheap packet.
Who doesn’t love a great breakfast bar to eat on the run? We created this recipe using peanut powder and hemp hearts to boost the nutrition factor too.
We have much to be thankful for and look forward to an even better 2017.
Happy New Year!
