Who doesn’t love a good bowl of chili? One of the things I love about it is all the different ways it can be made. The options are endless. With the Super Bowl coming up, what better time to try a new chili recipe or two for your family and friends?
The following recipes are tried and true ones that have showed up on our menu plans as well as on our dinner tables. And it may be obvious, but we love using our slow cookers for making chili! Of course we use our slow cooker for way more than just that, but it is just so darn easy to let the pot of chili cook all day and intensify the flavors that way. If you don’t have a slow cooker, you can still make on the stovetop and let is simmer a bit.
Slow Cooker Turkey, Lentil and White Bean Chili
I recently created this recipe for my daughter’s birthday party with our family and have made it several times since. Even Lesley’s children who usually aren’t a fan of “spicy” ate it! You could easily swap lean ground beef for turkey or red kidney beans for the cannellini beans. For the lentils, use any color you prefer.
Bison and Kale Chili
While bison tastes similar to beef, it is generally leaner, yet still packed with flavor. You can find bison in most major
supermarkets, or use lean ground beef if you prefer. This one comes together quickly on the stovetop.
Slow Cooker Vegetarian Sweet Potato Chili
We promise you won’t miss the meat in this vegetarian chili. With 2 kinds of beans and the sweet potatoes,
it is packed with flavor and lots of gut-friendly fiber.
Slow Cooker Turkey Pumpkin Chili
Pumpkin is a year-round ingredient for me, thanks to canned pumpkin. It adds a richness to this chili,
not to mention a great boost of vitamin A.
With the Super Bowl around the corner, try one of these chili recipes, which may just become a new family favorite!
